Kyra Garrigue is an electronic media artist living in upstate New York.  Ms. Garrigue combines her background in music and photography  to create audio- visual installations and single channel pieces. After studying music at North Carolina School of the Arts, Ms. Garrigue moved to Brooklyn, NY were she took up photography at The School of Visual Arts in NYC ( BFA 1996). Ms. Garrigue's early photographic pieces consisted of transposing musical compositions into photographic installations. After years of working with photography and as a Fine Art Cibachrome printer, Ms. Garrigue started to incorporate video into her photographic pieces. In 2003, Ms. Garrigue moved to Troy, NY to attend the Electronic Art program at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute ( MFA 2006).

Ms. Garrigue has presented her Audio-Visual works throughout the United States, Canada, and Europe in Festivals and Exhibitions such as:  The New York Video Festival at Lincoln Center, NYC; The International Media Art Festival-Art in the Age of New Technologies at The Armenian Center for Contemporary Experimental Art in Armenia; CITYZOOMS  at The Uebersee Museum, Bremen, Germany; Photophobia at The Art Gallery of Hamilton, Hamilton, Canada; Contemporary Genre, Delta Center for the Arts, CA;   Pulse, The Bass Museum of Art, Miami, FL; Festival de Creación Audiovisual de Navarra 2002, Spain; and The BAC International Film and Video Festival, The Brooklyn Museum of Art.  Her videos are in the permanent collection of The Museum of New Art, Detroit, MI, where her video Ice was selected as Best in Show in The Detroit International Video Festival. Additionally, she  is an Assistant Professor of Digital Media at  Hudson Valley Community College where she teaches a variety of New Media courses.
