The Ground Rules
Medical Imaging Department | HVCC Homepage | My Classroom | Linda's Homepage| About Me

The following are areas that will help to develop a solid classroom community.

  1. Communication: Listening and speaking with awareness.
  2. Clear expectations in assignments, classroom tasks. If you do not understand, ASK!
  3. Respect for classmates. Value what others say; value what you say.
  4. Respect for differences of styles, opinion, background, etc.
  5. Come prepared to class, do your assigned readings.
  6. If you work with others on your assignments or study together come prepared to these groups.
  7. Be accountable, it should be your work and your work only, do not copy or give the answers to others for the entire assignment. (I wasn't born yesterday, I can tell)! I consider this cheating.
  8. An atmosphere of safety and non-judgement. Strive toward a community built on trust. Be courageous in saying something which might run counter to prevailing opinion. Follow up on and explore others' ideas that are different from your own.
  9. No COMPLAINING or NEGITIVITY, propose solutions instead! Be open to new ideas.
  10. Common goals and clear purposes.
  11. Start and end on time. Come to class on time. Notify Linda of absences.
  12. Regular feedback.
  13. Make eye contact with each other (and not just the professor!) during discussions.
  14. Be inclusive in what you say and do.
  15. Everyone does his or her share in group tasks. Cooperation/support/team work. Stay focused and on-track.
