About
the Final Project
You must follow directions. Students often loose points
by simply not reading and following these guidelines
Grading
Web Site: 80%
Presentation and Particpation: 20%
Each student is responsible for creating, developing, and properly executing
a substantial web site using the techniques and skills learned in this
class.
Your grade will depend on how well you use Dreamweaver to create your
web site. You will also be responsible for demonstrating your web site
to the class in a brief presentation.
The
project has three components:
- your project proposal
- your completed web site
- the presentation and of your project and class participation during
your fellow students' presentations.
(1) The Project Proposal
The project proposal is due as a homework
assignment for Session 6.
Prepare a written proposal using the following sections:
- Project Name: (The name you want to give the project.)
- Client: (Real or fictional - who is the site for?
an organization, an individual, etc.)
- Web Designer: (Your name.)
- Goals and Objectives: (This is the project overview.
What is the goal or purpose of the web site? Who is it for? Is it a
real organization or business, a family or personal site, a fictional
organization or business, etc.)
- Target Audience(s): (Who will you design the site
for ... who do you think will visit the site?)
- Site Structure: (What is the proposed site design,
What is the "look and feel" of the web site; its color scheme,
its layout, its organization? What kind of menu or navigation structure
do you propose? Be sure to prepare a preliminary site map.)
- Resources: (What resources will you need to build
the web site (that is: text, graphics, etc. Where do you think you will
get those resources?)
(2) The Web Site
1. After you complete the Project Proposal for HW 6, you should begin
planning and creating your web site according to your proposal specifications.
The project itself is meant to be a quality
Web site. You must use Dreamweaver, of course.
I am always available for consultation (either in class, via email, or
by appointment) Don't be afraid to ask for assistance.
I will grade the finished web site on the basis of the following points:
- I want to see evidence of good site design, use of images and type.
- You must use a variety of techniques, skills, etc. that you learned
in this course which demonstrates the mastery of course material (for
example: tables, frames).
- The site must include multiple pages that link to each other with
a well-designed navigation system.
- You must have some links to external web sites and email.
2. How many pages should the site be? I can not easily answer
this question, since it will be up to you to create what you think is
a quality web site. However, since most students want some sort of number,
here it is: at least a home page and 5 -10 subordinate pages.
(3) The Presentation and Participation
-
You will be expected to make an in-class presentation
of your project on the dates indicated.
-
This presentation should be about 15 minutes.
-
The project needs to be complete
at the time of the presentation.
-
The presentation should explain how your project proposal
was implemented. That is, how you went from your plan to execution
of the finished web site. You should demonstrate how your site works.
- You will be expected to participate during the presentations by asking
questions of your fellow students' work.
What are the Final Project Due Dates?
- The Project Proposal is due on Session 6.
- The Project and its presentation is due on Session
12.
- You must be in class to get credit for your final project.
